Starlets Smash Charity Fundraising Target

For the last year we have been raising funds for Willow Foundation, our club’s chosen charity for the 2018/19 season.

This weekend many young Starlets players, parents and volunteers took part in a sponsored walk across Stevenage in a last big push for donations before the season ends. As ever the response to this activity has been amazing, not only in terms of those taking part but also in the generous donations from friends and family.

Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. Sadly for some, it’s a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. Thankfully for many more their Special Day is an important opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living.

This is such a worthy cause and one that we have been extremely proud to support over the last year. So it is with great pleasure that we can say that our sponsored walk smashed it’s £500 target and added together with the other activities undertaken through the course of the season takes the total we have raised to over £2,500!

A huge well done to all those from across the club who have contributed to this incredible achievement. As a club with a strong set of values at its heart we believe in teaching our girls the importance of giving back to the community and it is something the all have embraced wholeheartedly this season.

In the next few weeks we will nominate our chosen charity for next year and look forward to seeing if we can raise even more for another good cause in 2019/20. But for now after all that walking we just need to put our feet up and enjoy watching the Lionesses get their Women’s World Cup campaign underway!
