Sister Club Match Day Experience
22 April 2018
Our girls were treated to a close up view of elite women’s football with a fantastic match day experience courtesy of our sister club Watford Ladies FC, giving them special access to today's game against London Bees.
The activities started with an exclusive training session before the game, where two Watford coaches put them through their paces.
Despite the hot weather they were able to show off their skills and pick up some top tips, that is until the appearance of a large stinging insect temporarily halted proceedings.
Fortunately it was just Harry the Hornet, Watford’s official mascot, coming out for a photo opportunity and nobody was harmed!
After that our girls had the honour of being player escorts, taking to the field alongside the two teams before the start of play.
They then settled in to watch the match, but despite their support play did not go the way of our hosts, with London Bees claiming a two goal lead before the interval.
Nevertheless our girls were on hand to raise spirits during the half-time break, with a penalty shoot out against Harry the Hornet.
The second half saw another valiant effort from the Watford players, but it was London Bee’s day, finding the net twice more to take the game 0-4.
Despite the disappointment of the day’s result, the Watford players took the time to meet with our girls after the game, answering their questions and signing plenty of autographs.
It’s fair to say all of our little Starlets were suitably inspired to see what goes in to a match day for the top female players and all had an absolutely fantastic time.
Huge thanks to all at Watford Ladies FC who gave them a day to remember - we’re just sorry we couldn’t be luckier mascots!
